Major news for Disney® fans—Walt Disney World® is saying goodbye to virtual queues for some of its most in-demand attractions. That means no more pre-dawn wake-ups or rapid-fire app refreshes just to score a spot.
So, what’s the catch? And how will this change your next visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Let’s dive in!
Virtual queues at Walt Disney World® provide a convenient alternative to regular standby lines. If you have a valid ticket and admission, you can join a virtual queue no matter where you're staying. Simply check the My Disney Experience app on your mobile device to see which attractions offer this feature.
For quite a long time, virtual queues at Walt Disney World® have been the go-to for managing crowds, especially for brand-new, high-demand rides. The system grants guests a place in a digital queue, notifying them when their boarding group is ready.
While this kept some areas from getting too packed, the difficult part? These slots can vanish in seconds. If you weren’t fast—or just unlucky—you could miss out entirely. It was a race against time, strategy, and a sprinkle of luck.
Now, the era of virtual queues is closing for some top rides at Walt Disney World®. Guests must either wait in standby lines or opt for paid perks like Disney Genie+ or Lightning Lane.
As of the 25th of February 2025, Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom® Park and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT® have switched things up, meaning no more virtual waits—just traditional standby lines.
But, to enjoy a speedier experience, guests can still opt for Tiana's Bayou Adventure using a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, while Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind remains available as a Lightning Lane Single Pass.
At this time, no attractions at Walt Disney World® are operating virtual queues.
With these changes in motion, here’s how to unlock even more magic of your Walt Disney World® adventure with Great Work Perks discount tickets:

The question arises...are Virtual Queues at Walt Disney World® now a thing of the past?
Not so fast! Virtual queues aren’t disappearing forever—they’re just taking a backseat for now. Expect them to make a comeback during high-traffic seasons, blockbuster ride debuts, and those can’t-miss limited-time events.
At first glance, this might feel like a step in the wrong direction, but it’s actually a calculated shift. By bringing back standby lines, Walt Disney World® is aiming for a more seamless, inclusive, and predictable park experience.
Think of it more as a plot twist in the ever-evolving Disney® adventure!
Walt Disney World® is always evolving, fine-tuning the experience to keep up with crowds and guest expectations. But rest assured—the magic is still very much alive! You just might have to experience it in a new way.
